Feelin’ blue?

Pilcrow does not make you stare at the same colour scheme forever. Under Settings, on the Display tab, there is a full set of themes to choose between, and it seemed worth the trouble of actually showing you each one, rather than simply listing their names and leaving you to imagine the rest.

There are eight themes in total, and this post works through all of them in turn.

Dark Green

This is the theme Pilcrow starts you off with. It pairs a very dark, near-black background with a bright, slightly minty green for links, active tags and highlights, giving the whole app something of an old computer terminal about it.

Dark Green ][

A second take on the same idea. The background here carries a slightly deeper, more shaded cast than the plain Dark Green theme above, while the accent colour stays close to the same bright green.

Dark Amber

Swap the green for a warm amber and you get this one: the same very dark background, but every link and highlight now glows a soft orange rather than green.

Light Amber

The same amber accent as above, but set against a warm, cream-coloured background rather than a dark one, for anyone who would rather work on a lighter screen without giving up that particular colour.

Dark Blue

A cooler option altogether: a near-black background with a faint blue tint to it, paired with a clean, bright blue used throughout for links and highlights. Here live the Vooloohoo.

Light Blue

The light counterpart to Dark Blue: a pale, faintly blue-grey background paired with that same blue accent colour, for a calmer, more daytime-friendly version of the same palette.

Dark

A different sort of dark theme to the others: rather than a neutral black, the background carries a warm, ink-like cast, paired with a golden amber for links and highlights and a bright cyan picked out for secondary touches, like the outline around a lit-up pile.

Light

And finally, a straightforward light theme: a white background, dark grey text, and the same green accent colour as the two dark green themes above, for anyone who simply wants the brightest screen on offer.

Whichever one you settle on, switching between them takes moments. Open Settings, choose the Display tab, and click through the options listed under Theme until you find the one that suits you. There is no need to commit to a single choice either, since you are free to change your mind and switch again whenever the fancy takes you.
